Ryan Knight
Chief Executive Officer
Ryan is a technical thought leader with extensive experience in cloud native architectures, large scale distributed systems and data pipelines. He first started Java Consulting at the Sun Java Center and has since worked and consultant at a wide variety of companies such as Oracle, Riot Games, Deloitte, LightBend, DataStax and Starbuck. From the diverse number of projects he has gained extensive experience with a wide variety of technologies including Scala, Java, Cassandra, Vault, Istio and Kubernetes. He enjoys working with clients helping them to solve their most difficult challenges. Ryan regularly does trainings and has spoken at conferences around the world, such as Scale by the Bay, QCon, JavaOne, Devoxx, JavaZone, Cassandra Summit and many others.
Henrik Engström
Chief Technical Officer
Henrik has over 20 years of professional development experience and 35 years of computer programming knowledge. During his professional years he has gathered vast domain knowledge in the financial, retail, and online gambling industries. He has worked with everything from low-level machine coding to high flying BPM diagrams. The last 10 years, Henrik's focus has been on building scalable, resilient, and elastic architectures that are able to handle the traffic demanded by state of the art systems. Henrik has presented at world-leading tech conferences such as JavaOne, OSCON, Scala eXchange, DevNexus, and Jfokus among others, and he was awarded a JavaOne Rock Star title in 2016.
Jim Powers
Principal Engineer, New Jersey, USA
An experienced practitioner with
over 20 years of experience. He has extensive experience across a broad range of technologies ranging from working with Big Data with Scala to Complex Cloud and Cluster Orchestration. Jim is the rare engineer that can work at any layer of the technology stack from Scala Development to DevOps Automation. He has worked with companies large and small such as Moat which was acquired by
Oracle and Typesafe.
Calvin Fernandes
Engineer, Toronto, Canada
Calvin has over 9 years of experience in developing microservices, large scale data pipelines, and cloud-native applications within the loyalty, fintech, and government sectors, Calvin has extensive expertise in development, architecture, cloud infrastructure, and training. Calvin is a passionate advocate of typed functional programming, concurrent & distributed systems, and DevOps. He uses this unique combination of skills to deliver unique, innovative, and maintainable solutions to help organizations achieve their business priorities. Calvin is dedicated to continuously improving himself and his ability to build better software solutions.
Leo Regnier
Engineer, Bariloche, Argentina
Leo has over 12 years of professional experience in software engineering. During this time, he has worked for a wide range of industries such as e-commerce, advertisement, finance, social networking, among others. Over the past several years, his main goal has become building reactive systems that are both responsive and resilient and can meet today's demands. Recently, he has worked on the internals of a distributed serverless database platform. He has gained first hand experience on the challenges of applying consensus and consistency in a distributed environment as well as keeping up uptime on a high demand service. Leo has a strong desire to understand how things work under the hood and he is constantly reading and learning about the latest trends in the technology space.
BRIAN RILEY
Principal + Technical Architect
With over 17 years in software consulting across a myriad of technologies, platforms, and disciplines, Brian has contributed to countless corporate and open source projects as an application architecture specialist, developer, and project manager. His initial bona fides come from an 8 year stint at IBM delivering enterprise applications.
Brian studied Mathematics and Computer Science at The College of the Holy Cross. He's an avid surfer, snowboarder, and volleyball ace, and currently lives on Boston's South Shore.
